Neighborhood

Henry's Haus sits on S Edison Street in Fredericksburg's historic district, one block south of Main. The neighborhood is quiet residential - older homes, big shade trees - so evenings stay calm even when Main Street is busy. On foot: Main Street's shops, galleries and tasting rooms start a block north, about a ten-minute walk to the middle of it. Vereins Kirche and Marktplatz are roughly the same. Hondo's on Main and the Auslander are both walkable for dinner, so you can leave the car parked and walk home. A short drive: the Texas Hill Country Wine Trail runs west along Highway 290, with Grape Creek and Becker Vineyards about fifteen minutes out. Enchanted Rock is half an hour north on Ranch Road 965 - book a day pass ahead in cool weather, they sell out. The National Museum of the Pacific War is at the east end of Main. Practical: H-E-B, a pharmacy and a gas station are all a few minutes by car.
