Zilker Haus is on Hollow Creek Drive in 78704, just off South Lamar at the edge of Zilker. On foot: the Barton Creek Greenbelt trailhead, Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park are all about five minutes away. The Violet Crown Trail starts from the same corner of the park, and the hike-and-bike loop around Lady Bird Lake picks up just north of there. Guests tend to walk to the springs in the morning, come back to nap, and walk out again for dinner. Eating and drinking: South Lamar and South First are the two obvious directions - taco counters, patios and live music within a few minutes. Riverside Drive is a couple of minutes east. Events: Zilker Park is the ACL Festival site, so on the first two weekends of October you can walk to the gates. The Trail of Lights and the Kite Festival happen in the same park. Getting around: parking is free and right at the door, which is rare in this part of town. Downtown and Rainey Street are a short drive, and the airport is around twenty minutes without traffic.
